Adoption by same-sex couples is possible in all jurisdictions in Australia, except for the North Territory.
In the Western Australia region, joint adoption by same-sex couples and co-adoption is possible since 2002.
In ACT the joint adoption by same-sex couples and co-adoption is possible since 2004.
In the Region of New South Wales and Norfolk Island both situations are possible since 2010.
In Tasmania since 2013 and in Victoria and Queensland since 2016.
The last region to approve joint adoption by same-sex couples and co-adoption was South Australia in 2017.
